  1. Its not the safest or the smartest  thing as a parent to do but its her kid and she's going to allow it.

  2. That's not safe AT ALL! They are dangerous enough for teens and adults, but for a 9 YEAR OLD? That's just asking for trouble.

  3. my neurologist says that caffeine should come with a warning just like drugs do when it pertains to kids. He says its really a problem and people blame the kids bad behavior on every thing else when they are creating the problem. Your friend is harming her child.

  4. absolutely not!!

  5. I would have to know more. Does she usually let her son run things at home? Is she usually neglectful?

If not -- maybe she is looking for him to have the extra electrolytes and vitamins and hydration in the summer. Is it hot where you are? She may be well intentioned.

I would not let my kids have those as I think they are fine with their water and extra multivitamins but the fact that I do things differently at my house or even do not approve of something does not make the other parent wrong.

So...my usual refrain on questions asked by someone about another parent...MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

  6. It's not safe at all! It speeds up the heart rate!! If a child overdoses on them they could die!!

Monster Energy drink ranks the worst!

  7. No I wouldn't think so those drinks are made for adults.

  8. no way i don't let my teenage kids drink them way to much caffeine

  9. absolutely awful... that kid is going to be bouncing around everywhere

  10. No especially for 9 year olds.

They're unsafe even for older people.

They have way to much caffeine.

    I don't drink them and I'm 14.

  11. 9 year olds are already energetic enough; they don't need more power. I don't think it's safe, and it's definitally not the healthiest choice. But I guess since she's the parent, it's her decision.

  12. I am a teacher who goes into schools and teaches a nutrition program. We ALWAYS tell the kids to NEVER drink energy drinks. They are very unhealthy and children die from overdosing on them all the time. We tell stories of children who died of a heart attack after drinking 2 or 3 in a short amount of time. If she values the life of her child i would highly suggest not giving him energy drinks.

  13. does he ALWAYS drink them???

for a 9 year old this prob. isnt safe because it has a lot of SUGAR and CAFFEINE it may even stunt the child's growth!

  14. No way, I do not think they are all that safe even for adults. They even put warnings on some of them. They are not intended for under a certain age, read one and show it to your friend. Their have been cases of teenagers passing out from it. I read a news article where a convenience store near a high school quit carrying them due to this fact.

Do a search and find that article.

  15. Safer than Ritalin, IMHO and they work the same.  So if her son has ADHD, then it might be a good idea.

  16. no it's not safe . they are barely safe for adults . way to much caffiene .

  17. Safe... but SO not clever. He'll get really really REALLY hyper in a short time, then bam, he'll go low.

  18. It won't kill him but is definitely not the healthiest way to go.
