My Friend Said To Find out if premature babies are blind they remove the eye from the socket is this true ?

so yea she told me that this really happens and i really don't believe it ! i mean :| its just not human and i was wondering if anyone could link me to a site or fill me in :| i hope im right and shes wrong lol :)

  1. Can't give you any links to any sites or anything but it would be not only inhuman but also physically impossible.

    The eye is connected to the optical nerve which is connected to the brain.

    Even with premmies this would be true as the eyes are completely formed at 6 months in utero. And the fetus is capable of independant life in the seventh month.

    They can look at the eyes and tell you if there is anything seriously wrong with them.

    Also from 6 months a baby is able to use his vision. If you have a premmie use the corrected age. (Go from the date the child would have been born instead of the date they were born) when measuring development

  2. You're friend is incorrect. In fact, it is impossible to know whether or not a newborn is blind or has full sight. This is usually found when they child is around 2 years old and even then they may have some vision of shadows or figures. They do not remove the eye.
