Depends on why they are mad. Did you do something? If so, tell them you are sorry and never do it again. If not, find out why they are mad and defend yourself! If they are a jerk about it, then maybe they are not such a great friend anyway. Regardless, you need to talk to them, find out how they feel, tell them you understand, and then react according to the justification of their anger (i.e. say you're sorry, end the friendship, explain your side, or agree to disagree).
