I have two female cats that are sister. but one of them has an obsession with my green blanket. but the weird thing is it was my ex-girlfriends blanket before mine.

My cat likes to l**k it and she does this weird thing with her paws.

Doesn't Anyone Know Why she does this??

  1. My cats do the same thing. It is a comfort thing to them  make sure there is nothing in the way before they lay down. There might be something on the blanket that they either like or don't like. Try washing the blanket in non scented laundry detergent. My cats take about a half hour to lay in a spot that they lay in for about not even 5 minutes. Hope I could help.

  2. Is the blanket being used by you or someone else?

Cats have been known to l**k sheets because of the salt left on them from human perspiration.

  3. The thing with her paws is called 'mixing bread' or 'kneading'. Kittens do it when they nurse from their mother because it causes the milk to flow easier which is always why she licks/sucks on the blanket. Its normally a comfort thing, it makes them feel secure and happy right before they go to sleep. As far as it being your ex-girlfriend's before it was yours that probably has little to do with it especially if you have washed and then used the blanket since then; it will still have your scent on it. Always my cats almost always do this with 'fuzzy' blankets. They seem to remind the cat of their mother's fur.

Also this activity is even more frequent in cats who were weaned early from their mother though that isn't a requirement.
