Ok, so i went to the Reptile Expo in Daytona yesterday and bought 2 new Geckos, they are not fully grown. I have them in a 10 Gallon Tank with moss on the bottom, a water dish with the waterbottle that keeps refilling it, a rock with a huge plant on it in the left corner, another huge plant in the right corner, a hollow log in the center on the ground, and a hammock with a little pool in it that hangs near the roof of the tank. I also put a red eyed tree frog in there. The people at the Reptile Expo told me they would live fine together in the tank, all 3 of them. They have plenty of room in the tank and lots of places to hide and hang out. I put them in the tank yesterday around 6pm and they were fine. Around 10pm they started fighting and biting eachother, the 2 Geckos, but stopped soon after. This mourning one attacked the other and the one that got attacked ran away. Why are they doing this, for territory? Dominance? Should i take one out and wait till they are full grown and put him back in? Im so confused as to what to do since Geckos are supposed to be docile. Also there not sexed and there exact specias is Gold Dust Geckos from Madagascar. Thanks in advance.

  1. they are probly both males but you could put a divider in the tank and put one gecko on each side and the frog on wat ever side you want and dont listen to the chick who says the lizards will eat the frog for one they will never be big enough and two day geckos dont eat frogs they eat bugs and baby food

also you will need a bigger tank eventually

  2. A 10 gallon is not large enough to house that many geckos. Also two males shouldn't be be in an enclosure together. They should be sparated indefinitely! And the green tree frog shouldn't be left with the geckos, he could become an expensive meal if the geckos gang up on him.

  3. they  must b males u must switch cages or theyll kill eachother

  4. They are most likely two male geckos in that cage. you can have one male gecko with several females however two males will most likely fight. the way you can check is look near the base of the tale and check for two bulges or a V shaped vent. if there is a well defined V shaped vent and two bulges then it is a male. if there isn't then it is a female. It is easier to s*x a gecko when it is older though and you may need to use a magnifying glass or something to see it. http://www.vmsherp.com/images/LearningCe... . I am only experienced with leopard geckos though and I'm not sure if sexing for this species is the same. for the time being i would recommend separating the two that are fighting. are all three fighting or just two of them? you may have two males or three males or another possibly is the enclosure is too small. I was cleaning my aquarium once and put my leopard geckos into a smaller container for the meantime and the male attack the females. You can try putting them in a larger container for a while and see if they still fight. a large see-through storage container would be good  with some ventilation and branches or something as well as somewhere to hide so they won't get stressed although I'm not sure how hardy of a species the gold dust geckos are so do it maybe for only a day and see what the results are.

  5. they're obviously two males.

Seperate them before they kill each other. Maybe put a piece of cardboard to divide the tank into two areas.

  6. u need more like a 40gallon tank there are no gecko species that u can keep in a 10 gallon let alone 3

also what species do u have as this will help

but at the end of the day u really should split up any reptiles that fight whether they normally do or not sometimes these animals fight and the only way to stop them killing each other is splitting them up

  7. they are probably territorial, when they grow up the fighting could only get more violent. research the species and see how agressive they can get. If they are agressive types then you will have to seperate them in two cages forever, unfortuantely. If they arent territorial then just put them in two clear cages next to eachother and wait for them to cool off. Also find out what the sexes are, cuz two males could be a problem
