My Genie garage door will only travel a short distance then stops or reverses slightly. Ideas?

The trouble shooting guide hasn't been much help. It seems to operate fairly easily manually, There are no obstructions or misalignments with the optic sensor and I have already adjusted force settings. Any other ideas would be welcome.

If there's nothing blocking the sensor and they are aligned properly, have you tried cleaning the lenses?  It's possible that something has gotten on them (splashed mud, splashed paint, dead bug, etc) that is blocking the light beam as if it were an obstruction.

Could be that one of the sensors is going bad also.

Genie is notorious for having the limiter switches hang up. There are small springs in them that dont always return the lever to where it needs to be. There are two of them and they are mounted on the rail. Flip them with your finger and if they dont return to the open position, tweak the spring a little and try it again.

Ours is doing the same thing. We don't know exactly what it is, but we do know that it has to do with the wiring for the wall switch. It opens and closes manually, won't open with an opener, and opens, but does not close with the switch in the garage. I'd check out the wiring in the switch and see if something is loose.

Could it be the sun? My garage door does the same thing but works fine when the sun gets over the house. Hold the garage door button down when the door is shutting and see if it closes all the way. Not your garage door remote button the hard wired button mounted on the wall.

if its not going down check sensors

if its not going up and its worm drive its your trolley//////

and check up and down sensitivity////////////////////////

as stated above the door may be hitting the limit trigger//////
