My Gerbil has red gunk on its nose...is it sick??

Well, yeah...so when I picked up one of my gerbils today, she had some red gunk around her nose...now im not sure if it came out of her nose or if she was just digging in something and got it on her nose...either way, i dont know what it is. I did clean it off with a Q-tip and its mostly gone now...but im still worried about what it is... Is my gerbil be sick? And if she might be sick how could i make sure, and how could i fix it?? Please help me!!!!

mine gets that almost every day. he is fine and i know for a fact he isnt sick. i think that pushing around bedding and being so active, they bump their nose a bit and it bleeds a little. its no big deal...

It is O.K. Calm down. The "red gunk" is most likely gerbil mucus, if it is your gerbil isn't sick. If you see other symptoms or it doesn't stop for a month or so and you get very worried see a vet. But most likely it will be gone in a couple days and your gerbil will be fine. I hope I helped.

If you have a wire cage sometimes if they chew on the wire cage they will often get a bloody nose. I'd get an aquarium for them. Are they in a wire cage?
