My German friend and I argued the other day-what places in the US remind you of Bavaria?

Question

I said there are parts of Colorado (Golden to be specific) and Utah where it is mountainous, of course, Levenworth, Washington, and for the green part only, Wisconsin.

Does anyone out there agree with me? I don´t think these places are HALF as pretty, but just close.

Hi, my first reaction (before seeing the details) were: Colorado and Utah.

Spent half my life in Denver, and am currently in Munich, and yes, there is a resemblence, but also lots of differences...

No resemblance whatsoever - nowhere in the US could you find such scenery or quaint, colorful little villages with old churches and farm houses.

I can't think of any specific places, but whenever I see a big old chestnut tree, I wish there were a nice shady Bavarian beer garden underneath...

Leavenworth (WA) does look really pretty in the winter when there's snow and all, but it doesn't smell or taste anything like a Bavarian Weihnachtsmarkt--gebrannte Mandeln, Glühwein, mmmm...

Hmm, I guess parts of Pennsylvania looks similar, but I don't think you could compare anywhere in the US with Bavaria... Bavaria has amazing scenery and the little towns you see while driving is just beautiful, and the castles! My god the castles...ahh... :)

i was going to reply with the question 'how can you think anywhere in the US can compare with Bavaria?'!!! but then i noticed you also said they werent half as pretty so that got you off the hook!

no offense to US as i think it is a beautiful country coast to coast but there is something about bavaria, its history, architecture and people that just cant be replicted elsewhere. sorry but im with your boyfriend on this one!

have lived in both places, and many of the other suggested cities as well... In my heart, the answer is Washington, around Olympia.
