Question:

My Goldfish (Ryukin) looks sick....Please help!?

Hi ppl.

I have 1 meduim blackmoor and 4 baby Fantails. 1 Ryukin that looks sick. It floats upside-down on the top of the tank. I try feeding peas and hand feeding it and it didn't work. Is it sick or not. Or is it normal. Please help...thank you :D

  1. your ryukin suffers from a swimbladder disorder.


  2. Is there any other information you can offer? Such as how long you've had it, what size tank is it in, do the other fish pick on it?

    Check your water perameters for starters. If you're really worried hospitalize it. It could be old, it could be a million things. See if you can't offer more information.

  3. what your fish as is called dropsy. you need to go to a petstore and get dropsy medicine for it asap or else it will die. goldfish get this due to poor water quality. how often do you do partial water changes and syphon the gravel? it should be 25% of water every 2 weeks. also how big of a tank do u have for them? if you have 6 goldfish you should have at least a 30 gallon tank. anything smaller will lead to ammonia and nitrite buildup, causing dropsy.
