And If he gets Status will it help me?

Can he even get Status?

The reason I'm asking is 'cause I want to take a University course that will only take me if I'm part native. The 'White' spaces are full.

  1. If you come from NZ, no way as you need to be at least 1/2 in NZ. If the only native in you is your Grandfathers Grandma, forget it you don't even deserve to qualify, especially if you don't even associate with your ancestors, I believe to qualify with this little native blood means you have to live and be with the natives and believe you too are native, that is how it works in Australia. I believe you are probably 1/13th at most.

    My fathers mother was full blood, making him half, I was brought up with the natives as you put it, but am white as all ****, and I don't qualify for nothing. Although I do have direct descendant land rights.

  2. Sorry, but if you check, you need to be at least 1/4 Native. That would mean a grandparent.  A grandparent's grandparent would be 1/4 of 1/4, or 1/16th.

    Try good grades, high scores on tests, etc.

    There are so many scholarship sites: here is one.

    Good luck!

  3. Grandfather's grandma = 100%

    Grandfather's parent = 50% (1/2)

    Grandfather = 25% (1/4)

    Your parent = 12.5% (1/8)

    You = 6.25% (1/16)

    I don't know about Status, but I can divide by 2 quickly. This all assumes no one married a Native along the way. If the parent up there was White but your other parent was full Native, you'd be 9/16ths Native.
