  1. My grandpa did that too - it was dementia.  He doesn't really know or mean what he says, when he says things like that.  It's best to ignore those comments entirely.

  2. JOIN THE CLUB! **** THE *******!

  3. just explain that he is out of line....times have changed and people have to, the good thing is the old people of tomorrow should not be that way. he is showing what times were like in his youth.

  4. When people get old, some start saying things that they would not have said when they were younger.  Not sure if it is the mind going or if they just do give a flip anymore.

  5. Sounds like the early stages of dementia.  My grandmother went through this -- older people start reverting to old ways and acting more childish.  Some of the best ways to slow the progression of this is to keep his brain active and occupied as often as possible.  In addition to just chatting with your grandfather, try to get him to do things such as crossword puzzles or Scrabble, math games, or other things that involve logic and thought.  Here is some more information for you:

    Good luck!

  6. yes.

People when get to older ages began to say stuff that might shouldn't be said. They don't know what they are talking about. Their brain isn't always working like ours, instead their brains is shutting down. Maybe you can tell your grandfather that he have been saying racist comments. Maybe he'll realize to maybe stop. Try that.
