My Green Gage plums have split because of rain?

  1. I have the same problem with damsons. Not a lot we can really do cos it's in the hands of Mother Nature. Hope for a better fruit season next year. Good luck. h


  2. after it rains (immediately) go out with a blower and blow the water off the fruit.  I used to work at a cherry orchard and it was the same problem.  We'd use the sprayer - empty - and run it down the rows of the orchard at bull blast.  It knocked off the water and prevented the fruit from swelling.  I take it you have a much smaller scale than an orchard.  Get a gas blower.  Electric will work, too, but I'm not sue you want to be running an electric power tool during precipitous weather.
