Ok, i wanted to edit this song of mine on my HP Vista and when i went to turn it on, it simply did nothing. I checked the power bar it is plugged into and it is working fine as it has other electronic accessories plugged into it which are working fine. I then checked to see if the power cord was in properly; it was; did not change the situation. i tried a different power cord, (brand new actually) and... nothing. It still did not work. I then noticed a little red thing underneath the power cored input in the computer. I realized it was "switchable". i switched it, still nothing, i switched it again, nothing. aside from that, the monitor works, the speakers work and the computer is not that old (maybe a year). Before you give me an idea as to help, remember, i cant get any electricity to the computer so the computer is literally and big box of metal and plastic. Please help me out, i have a lot of my music that i cant get back on it.

  1. It could be that your power supply has died.

  2. It sounds to me as though you need a replacement power supply.  This should be covered if you're still under warranty.

  3. first of all the red button that you switch is a bad sign because the red seitch is set to your contries power setting, for example in singapore it should be set to 230v while in other countries will be around 150v, it is a clear indication that your power box blew and you need to change a new one. since you are using a hp computer go back to your manufacturer or you can go down to a computer show to get a new one most likely a 550 watts power supply unit. remember to not power up your computer when chaning the power supply unit or plug any plugs into the system because there are voltages still running if you do that.

  4. Your power supply unit needs replacing. The little red thing determines which power you use 120V or 240V depending on you country. Set it wrong and again you need a new power supply unit

  5. sounds like your power supply may have died on you. I would recommend taking your computer somewhere to get the power supply checked. Then again it may be a problem on the motherboard, but the power supply is more common
