I own an HP Pavilian 751n desktop. It is a 2001 model and I have had it to the Geek Squad for repairs. I need to find a new puter and would like to stick with HP. I don't know anything about what is out there now, everything is constantlt changing. I don't want a "starter kit" pc, I want something that I can count on to last awhile and that has enough of everything( power, memory) to let me surf the net, e-mail, do research, gaming and play dvd's along with a cd-rw ,cd-rom drive and a floppy drive... I need some input into what I should look for as far as a processor, hard drive, etc. I have an HP scanner and printer plus an HP mx70 moniter that I would like to continue with. Are there any HP websites available that would enlighten me on new products? I am currently running with 1500 Gig of ram with a 40G hard drive

  1. I had the same one.  I went to my local computer store and just purchased a new Lenovo procesor.  Nothing else.

I couldn't just get the HP processor.  That's why I went with Lenovo (IBM)   It has Windows Vista, Intel Dual Core 2.  All my HP stuff still works well with it.  I upgraded to 80G hard drive, due to writing music from my digital piano.

BTW:  the new processors do no have floppy drive.  That is extinct.  Too slow, not enough memory.

  2. every modern computer can do what you need and will seem incredibly faster then what you have now.

Basically go to the HP website and price one that's in your budget that you can spend. No matter which computer you end up with you'll be better off.

  3. Not an HP.
