  1. Try turning it on, plugged in to the charger, with the battery removed from the laptop. If it turns on, it was the battery.

    Otherwise, it may be a more difficult problem.

    If it's overheating, try getting some compressed air (most photography shops and even WalMart or Cosco sell this), to blast any dust that has accumulated in the heatsinks out.

    RE: Your Update;

    I'm afraid it's a more difficult issue then.

    Does the inidicator light come on, on your charger when it's plugged in? If not, the fuse has most probably burnt out. Fit a new fuse.

    If everything looks ok, then you may need to take it to a shop where they can try to fix it. It may be that the power supply for the laptop has given up and so you may need to replace it.. although many laptops incorporate this into the motherboard. In which case, you'll need to either purchase a replacement motherboard from HP or get the data off of your harddrive and just buy a new laptop. :|

  2. Try removing your battery and  put it back

    OR

    Or the laptop is broken

  3. i propose that your laptop has a faulty battery in which case i recommend that u'd buy one...there not expensive.

  4. the battery may have gone bust because of its age.
