My HP pwoer adapter for my laptop hisses and gets really hot?

i have a hp laptop, and the black box which is the transformer converting ac to dc to charge the batter hisses and gets really really hot in a matter of seconds after its been joined to the mains cable, and it smeels funky.

HP Laptops are good for nothing true POS! Is it brand new? If so phone HP and DEMAND they send you one for free. No reason you should pay for their POS! I will NEVER buy an HP again! 2 brand new ones with tons of problems! Don't plug it with that charger whatever you do.

It is not good to have malfunctioning Power unit. discard it and buy a new one.

That is not a good sign. You try using a compatible one either from your friend or from a local repair shop to see how it fairs. If the borrowed one works fine you should replace yours
