Question:

My Hair is Heat Damaged, Help!?

For awhile now i've been straighting my hair. I got real thick hair and when i straighten it, it makes it thinner looking and i love it! but the problem is,i haven't been paying much attention on how bad it was getting. I use a Remington Wet2Straight straightner and i always turn it up to 30 dry or wet. Sometimes i just blow dry my hair then straighten it.

Either way you get the point,my hair is damaged.

I currently started using TRESemme heat tamer protective spray and i was wondering if it would help to keep using that and maybe get some other TRESemme products. I hear they are pretty good.

any suggestions on how to make my hair healthy again? =]

  1. My friend has these straighteners that go really hot and damaged my hair but I used the Tresemme Heat restoration shampoo I think it's called, Oh and the conditioner.

Makes my hair smell nice and it seems to help it!

  2. No more straightening for awhile. Get shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair - a leave in condition would probably be a good idea as well. Also, there are lots of intensive, once a week conditioners available that could help. When it gets better and you go back to straightening it, be smart about it - the 30 setting on that iron is made for really wet hair - if your hair is dry it's WAY too hot at 30. The highest i ever go, even with wet hair is about 22. If your hair is dry, go no higher than 10.

  3. deep conditioning will help.

  4. Get a shampoo and conditioner made for dry, damaged hair.

  5. get a good haircut and go out to a salon typ store and buy a good straightener...one with real ceramic plates not fake ones. I have a tourmaline and its amazing..i have real thin hair that use to get damaged easy..i use this everday and my hairs fine

  6. If you can get hold of F.L.P's aloe Vera shampoo and conditioner, that will be the best. I would also spray aloe"First" on your hair before using this heat treatment

  7. Never straighten your hair when its wet, even if you have a wet/dry flat iron. It's much more damaging than straightening dry hair. Since its already damaged, go to the salon and get as much of the damage cut off as you can. Shampoos and conditioners for dry/damaged hair might help a little, but your hair will still be noticeably damaged. The only way to fix it is to cut it. Use protective products on your hair when you flat-iron from now on and stop straightening it wet.
