My Hamster Has A Red Ear!

HELP!

My Hamsters A Winter White And Its Over 1.5 Years,

Its Got Red In Its Ear And Around It. But I Cant Hold It Anymore Because It Bites Me And Anyone Else.. It Even Draws Blood!

If its an orange-y red or brownish red its probably ear mites, your vet can give you stuff to put in there and is not to serious just irritating for the poor thing. Also completely clean out its cage , include scrubbing and spraying with a mild disinfectant, wash any blankets thoroughly. Throw out any straw bedding in there and if you want to be on the safe side buy new straw and get rid of any you have stored (if thats what you use).

If it is a deep red or very dark ie. blood, it could indicate something more serious, and should definitely be checked out.

Either way your best off going to the vet.

Go get it checked out, it could be an infection / mites or something else. If you can normally handle your hamster and now can't and it started at the same time as it's ear became red and irritated - then it's common sense - if hamster suffering it isn't going to be to happy about being handled. Go and get it looked at.
