My Hamster escaped, now what?

I am a college student in a small apartment and my big black hamster has escaped! I have looked in every possible spot in the entire house to no avail. Is there a chance that she could have escaped outdoors? No one at my place has opened windows or doors, but my front door has a small piece of weather-stripping missing and there is a gap the width of my index finger. When I woke up this morning, I found bits of bread and old food (that she found under the fridge) next to her open cage; so obviously she found food and brought it home. If this is the case, WHY would she go outside? Or better yet, DID she go outside? I love and miss my cute little hamster :(

  1. get another one.. there like $5

  2. my mom's guinea pig did the same thing...she escaped when under my bed...so what i did i layed out her fav food & bits of veggies like lettuce out she started making noise & that's when i looked under the bed and saw her i offered her some lettuce and she scooted in reach for me to scoop her up.

she's not going to go far out of her home of where she gets food so you have to be patient cause she's gonna come where food is or where she can smell you...so look near clothes shoes hamper where your strongest scent is where she's gonna look to. if you have a fruit like a peach or pear oooh yeah she's gonna like that.  so just leave little sweet baits out...good luck

  3. Ive had so many hamsters and they all escaped at least once. I haven't had one in about 5 years though )=. My last one escaped and never came back. When my hamsters used to escape they would wind up in the walls and come out of a radiater or basement. Put out some food and GOOD LUCK!!!!
