  1. That sounds like either a tumor or cancer developing, mine had that before he died.

    Sorry

  2. ask the vet again, she might want to see im. its probably a tumor.

  3. Did the vet confirm it as tumour? The reason I ask is that it does sound like a tumour but there have been certain cases when a hamster can just develop a lump which is not a tumour and it is not painful to the hamster but the hamster has to live with it for life. Perhaps that is why your vet said that it is fine as long as he is normal. If it was a tumour, the vet would have said so. I suggest you speak to the same vet again and describe this situation and get the best opinion. The reason being hamsters with lumps might have some discomfort but can live like other hamsters for 1-2 years.

  4. It sounds pretty much like a tumor.

    He could have a disease.

Take your hamster to the vet IMMEDIATELY!

  5. Sounds like a tumor.

One of my hamsters, Cookie, had four tumors, but he lived happily until three and a half years of age. (Long for a dwarf.)

If he's not in pain, then keep him alive. Try to keep him happy. If he looks like he's in pain, put him down. I'm not sure how much it costs, but thwacking the back of his head really hard should do the trick, and it's not painful if you do it right. (But if you've never had to do that, definitely take him to the vet to be put down.)

  6. TAKE IT TOO THE VET,

  7. Sounds like a tumor; rodents are prone to tumors, and they can live for a while with the tumors (about 1-2 months for a mouse, 4-6 months for a rat, I imagine it's somewhere in-between for a hamster). I usually watch them for changes in behavior; when they become lethargic, stop eating or start to wheeze, I take them in to have them put down. It doesn't cost very much (I think, my vet charges like $17 for small animal euthanasia); it's probably the cheapest veterinary procedure you can have. If you feel your hamster is uncomfortable, you can certainly take him in to get him pts. Tumor surgeries don't work very well anyway, the tumors usually grow right back, either in the same spot or in a different spot on the body.

  8. It's either an abscess or a tumor in his cheek pouch. If it's an abscess, it well swell and pop, leaving him with a big hole. If it's a tumor, there's nothing you can do. Putting him down shouldn't cost you more than 30 dollars since he's considered a "small animal".
