Question:

My Hamsters.......????

Well I had started off with one female hamster and then got a male hamster and they had three babies about 2 months ago. I have them all in the same cage together and I think that the mother's pregnant again. And so is the daughter. What should I do.? Should I keep them in the same cage still when she gives birth? What will happen if I do? Will the siblings kill the young ones?

  1. If you dont want them to breed then split the males from the females. If they are syrian hamsters they should all have a seperate cage as they are solitary animals,

I hope the cage you have is big enough as it sounds like there are alot of hamsters in one cage. There is a chance that the mother may eat the babies as she should be on her own nursing her litter. She may feel threatened by all the company.

  2. if the daughter is pregnant, the young might be de-formed, have health problems or live a shorter life. This is due to inbreeding.

    You'll ned 4 or 5 cages..

    1. for the mother

    2. for the daughter

    3. for the males (or keep dad with)

    4. for the females

    5. for the dad

  3. I'm not sure check on google but i think ur supposed to remove the male like after pregnancy or something.  The little ones are supposed to be removed at a certain age.check google i'm not sure :))

  4. REMOVE THE MALE!

if u keep letting him get others pregnent, then u will end up with TOO MUCH!

and get two seperate cages. one for the male and the others for the females.

    OR!

get the spayed so u can keep them in the same cages

  5. WOW

remove the male and put everyone in their own cage. when the new babies are born, let the mom do their work, then move them into separate cages too. do not make this mistake again. keep the females and males separate. you are going to end up with a lot of cages

  6. well when a female is preg. you don't keep her with other hamsters or else they might eat them specially the male. you should seperate the mother from the others immediately and keep her seperated probably a few weeks after birth.
