Hi,

During my 9th grade year i took these classes:

Honors Geometry

AP Human Geography ("5" on the AP test)

Biology

English 9

Spanish 1 A/B

P.E.

Unweighted GPA: 4.0

Weighted GPA: 4.3

During my 10th grade year i took these classes:

Honors Algebra 2/Trigonometry

AP European History

Honors Chemistry

Honors English 10

Honors Spanish 2 A/B

P.E. (Tennis)

Unweighted GPA: 4.0

Weighted GPA: 4.8

Now, i had a weak Freshman year, only taking 2 out of 4 Honors Classes. The classes i missed on was Honors English and Honors Biology. Would this hurt me in the long run? Am i ruined for a chance at one of the top Universities in the Country?

I am aiming for Stanford,Duke,Harvard,UC Berkeley,Emory and Columbia University.

  1. No it will not hurt you at all. Your  school probably messed up your schedule and i'm sure they will understand that. Come on you had a 4.0 unweighted both years and a ******* high weighted one both years too, you will have no problem. Try taking more AP's your Junior year because those schools you mentioned would like to see that you keep challenging yourself more and more every year and still maintaining your high GPA. Don't take more than you can handle though. I want to go to Berkeley too. Im going to be a sophomore next year. I had 4.0 for my freshman year in all honors. Next year I am taking these classes:

    AP European History

    AP Biology

    Honors English 2

    Honors Spanish 3

    P.E. 2

    Pre-Calculus

You are very bright! Remember that you also have to have alot of community service, extra curriculars, school clubs and study alot for the SAT. You are very successful and continue to work your hardest in school because in the end it will all be worth it.

P.S. Sorry for my grammar and spelling errors. lol.

  2. nope...while freshman year is important, it won't hurt you if you didn

t take all honors classes. colleges look at how you did in your classes and while they do look at the level you took they also look at how you did in that class. think about it...an "a" is an "a" no matter what class. so when people say that a "b" in an honors class is just like an "a" in a lower level class, they are wrong. it seems like you have good goals, so push yourself a little to do your best. you have nothing to worry about. good luck! =]

  3. No, This should ruin ur chances at those schools.

If you just keep ur GPA at that range or higher u will def make it in.

Unless your interview u show yourself as a total loser by saying oh i was stupid in freshman year and stuff they will be like no im not gonna acept u

U should show them in ur interview that ur confident and u will just keep up with ur grades
