My Home Theatre System DVD player broke, can I still use a diffrent one for the Home Theatre system?

Is it one of the el-cheepo units with the DVD player built into a skinny receiver where the speakers plug into?

If so - then no.

The ability to add an out-board source (DVD player, Sat receiver, cable box) to these units is what you gave up with the low price.

If your DVD player is a separate box - then yes you can simply replace the DVD player.
