My Hp computer cannot find hard drive?

When i start up my hp it says unable to find hard drive. It wont load... it just shows a black screen and thats all it says. What is wrong????

  1. when you power up  enter your bios  and see if the hard drives are mounted   and check if the boot from C drive is enabled

  2. desktop:

    unscrew screws holding side panel on to the case and remove, locate hard drive (usually towards the bottom of the tower)

    make sure the hard drives cables are securely attached to the hard drive inside the computer and that they are not frayed or damaged

    laptop:

    turn laptop over loacte hard drive hatch (usually marked hard drive) unscrew and remove, make sure hard drive is firmly inserted into connection try removing hard drive and reinserting

    this should solve it otherwise the hard drive may have failed and you may require a new one

  3. The most common mistake...loose connection.Open up the tower and check the red thick wire that goes to your SATA O to your primary hard drive.
