  1. just spray w40 and it will work again

  2. My father had an Austin 1800 Motor Car years ago & we were going on Holiday ! During the journey we stopped & needed to open the Boot which was full of Camping Equipment etc. ! Something was jamming up the Boot Lock preventing it from opening ! So my father used a Screwdriver to poke it into the small gap between the Boot Lid & the Bodywork right next to the Boot Lock & by wiggling the Screwdriver about he was able to free up the unknown object jamming up the Boot lock & so open up the Car Boot ! I hope that this will help you in your predicament !

If you are an AA / RAC Member ? Call them up to see if they can come to sort out your problem for you !

  3. You definitely will need to empty the trunk (boot) to diagnose the problem no matter what it is.  Either something in the trunk is jamming the internal mechanism, or the lock itself is faulty.  Is there a remote trunk release?  Does it work?  If there is and it does, then it's definitely something in the lock.  If you can hear it click when you hit the release but you can't lift the lid, then my money would be on something in the trunk interfering.

Regardless, with gas prices being what they are (or petrol, I suppose) it's a good idea to empty the trunk anyway to cut down on the weight.

  4. Guess it would help if I knew what a boot lock was... what are you asking or is this just a slang I don't know?
