Three days ago my sister looked out the window and say blood next to one of the cats and her back paw looked twisted. She went outside but the cat had left when she approached her. we left the basement door open so she'll enter if she wished. Yesterday I found her in a dark corner of the basement She didn't want to be touched so I tried feeding her. later when I went down she had moved to another dark corner and when I went down again she had changed corner again. My dad told me to go after her and get her out of the basement to try and get her help. I did. when I put her down she limped out of the basement door into the neighbors yard through a small hole in the fence. By the time we got to the neighbors yard she was not there. We looked for her and couldn't find her. My dad said she's looking for a place to die. I'm still looking today and I need ideas on were to look because she was pregnant and i want to get her back home. So please help.

  1. sweetheart, she needs a vet.

an injured cat hides, limping attracts predators, so, they hide while they heal. every time you find her, she will look for a place to hide.

get her to a vet, then put her back in the dark corner of the basement.

as for finding her, she cant go far, they wont travel in the open in that condition. go back to the fence , lay down on the ground, with your feet to the fence and look.

you will be at cat level, anything the cat saw as a place to hide, that is where she is.

sheds, porches, garages, thick bushes, cars, woodpiles, tarps.

anything small, and dark, like a cave.

  2. Instead of watching your cat slowly shrivel up in one dark corner after another why didn't you take her to a vet? She desperately needs medical attention especially if she is pregnant.

If you manage to find her again--if she is not hiding from you now--please get her medical attention to ease her pain and help her with the kittens.

If she manages to live through all of this perhaps you can get her spayed so no more little eyes have to be killed by the animal shelter.

  3. Catch her and take to the vet. Sounds like she has fractures in one of her legs which will need urgent veterinary attention. Do you live near a road?  If there are fractures you will be looking at either a repair or maybe even an amputation. No matter how much she did not want

to be caught you need to do it for the animals welfare. She went back to the basement as that is where she sees home as. Place more food out ideally something smelly such as sardines. Put her in a cage and call your vet. If you can catch her without any food even better and they can operate on the leg if required and if needed take the litter out for her especially if the pelvis is fractured as well.
