About a week ago my internet started going REALLY slow and i don't know why :(

Pages sometimes don't even load on my laptop, and when i connect my xbox, i rarely get into matches on call of duty, and the dashboard doesn't even load. It's even slow on the Dell PC the modem and router is connected to.

I am on Virgin Media (used to be on ntl) and have an old ntl:home modem with a Philips SNB5600 wireless router.

I have tried swtiching off both and leaving them off overnight but it's still the same! Please help!!

  3. turn off the modem...let it cool off

  4. Wait wait wait... All your internets are slow?  Or just a few of them?

  5. If you own a download plan for the internet you may have exceeded your limit. If this is the case you will have to wait till next month or upgrade your download plan for more download space.

  6. There a several reasons why your computer is freezing/slow. First question is when was the last time you cleaned your registry. Having a corrupted registry can cause a whole host of errors and problems. Freezing up is one of them. If you have a lot of unnecessary registry keys that are hogging up your computer resources. Your computer is bound to choke. Scan your registry with a good registry cleaner. If you pull up more than 20 errors or duplication, clean your registry.

    2. Depending on your RAM specs and your computer usage. This could also be a the issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM by net surfing or other activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don't need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory. The below link will show you how.

    3. Spyware could be the culprit, so do a scan and see if your computer is infected.

    4. That last area is a hardware drivers. This could be the problem if new hardware has been added to the system. So, the drivers should still be up to date. So try the first two suggestion and see if you can get your computer to stop freezing/speed up.

Check your drivers. Hope this helps.

Go to:http://tpdownload.net/registrycleaner.ht... learn how to fix it.

  7. it could be a problem of conjested traffic in network or some physical damage of your LAN or router.somtimes server of your service provider gets slow down because of large data coagulationu can also try by cleaning your cookies adn history files.try to download Tune-Up Utily 2008 full version and use it.it may help u.

  8. i m also facing same problem and i think its not ur modem but its ur net traffic sometimes it happens when traffic goes up and up so dont b tense it will come down...but if u r facing this since ur connection then call to ur Internet service Provider (ISP).

    gud day

  9. You are only allowed to download so much data a week/month with any ISP.. I would check out what that amount is by asking Virgin or goto their customer service website and find out

People seem to think that data downloads are unlimited they are not once to pass your limit it gets slow, and there is time out period before it will get back to normal speed...

for instance my data download is 250 meg a day..if i pass that then I'm down to next to stop for 24 hours...it's just a wast of my time going on the net even for my email ...

check it out with virgin... they won't tell you unless you ask
