  1. Check underneath, mine does that when wet grass or grass clumps are clogging it.

Raise the height of the deck all the way up, and try engaging there--if it still kills, there's another issue.

I hope it is just this, because it's an easy fix!

  2. Sounds like something is holding the blades in a bind. There may even be a piece of limb hung on 1 of the blades. Turn the mower off and raise the deck and look underneath and remove anything you can see then turn the blades by hand to make sure they turn freely. You may also check to make sure the blades aren't bent. If you find nothing under the deck check all around the top and make sure there isn't anything there too.

If it ever cuts unevenly make sure all the tires are properly inflated.

  3. Something is probably caught in the blades. Look underneath the mower and move the blades to make sure nothing is caught.

  4. If its not clogged with grass it could be one of a number of kill sensors. There is one in the seat (kills the engine when the seat is empty and the blade engaged) and one on the shift lever when it is in reverse. also one on the clutch pedal. Any could be faulty.
