Question:

My LCD TV has a red hue where the screen is dark!?

It is not a contrast issue, and I can very easily watch all programs. It is just really annoying. If the screen is all dark (think a sceen at night...) there is a very obvious red oval covering about 80% of the screen.

It was not always like this...

I will call a repair man out, but I like to be well informed before I do so.

Thanks!

  1. Im not sure what kind of tv you have, but there are usually three colored bulbs in the back of a tv which project color onto the screen. One of your bulbs probably went out and its not a big deal. This happened to our tv and my husband was able to fix it himself.

  2. This set does not have three bulbs.  This is an LCD engine rear projection set.  Have fixed this problem about one hundred times now.  he set needs a new/rebuilt engine.  Rebuilt engines come with modified ventilation so the problem will not reoccur.  Engine costs around $350  with labor (a pain of a job) expect total of around $600 in home.

    Problem is defective color filters
