  1. make sure you have the settings on the receiver set for a hdtv. You don't really need the hd channels but it does help to have a hd receiver. I have an hd receiver and dish network and my lcd is fine. You can always call directv or vizio and ask how to tweak it for the best picture.

  2. In order to get Hi-Def satellite tv you need a HD dish and receiver.

Dish Network has an HD only package starting at $24.95 and up and provides over 100 HD Channels. Look at Dish Network HD here: http://www.sathookup.com/dish-hd/

Directv Hi-Def is a little trickier to install and more expensive but everybody says that the picture is great and DTV is the only place you can get the NFL Sunday Ticket.

It really depends on what works best for you.

  3. I don't think DirecTV charges more for the programming per month, but you do need an HD receiver box. I think that is another $5.99/mo... I think.

At Wal-Mart, and all stores actually, the brightness and contrast is always turned WAY up on TVs, so the picture really stands out to a potential customer. Also, make sure you have a quality cable connecting your dish to your TV. DO NOT EVER listen to Best Buy or anyone who says you need the $90 gold plated Monster Cable. Go on Amazon and get a $5 HDMI off brand. That's what I did, and it looks great. HDMI is HDMI - it's a standard.

    Good luck.
