We moved in 3 months ago and last month he brought us an application to complete for the association. This was never spoken about before but i went ahead and completed the application. Today he leaves me a message stating that he thinks the application will be denied because he is severely behind on his maintenance fees. How will this effect me?

  1. The lease is wiped out by an eviction too. If he doesn't pay they evict the occupant whether it's him or you. This is good though. You stop paying rent, legally. Just open a new seperate bank account and once a month ON TIME you deposit the exact rent in the account. None of your money, just his. ON TIME once a month. If the condo association evicts you, you use the money to move, and save receipts. If he tries to evict you, you play the message for the judge and show the judge the bank account with his rent, held, um, in abayance I think they call it. You have just cause to withhold the rent, but you must do it properly.

  2. .   Does not affect you.  He could get 2 years behind and they wouldn't bother a tenant.  The worry is that he is not paying his mortgage either.  Your lease is wiped out by a foreclosure.
