a Royal Flush in hearts and I won a nice amount. For you math geniuses, what are the odds of being dealt a Royal Flush anyway?

  1. I'm glad you asked this. Gives me a chance to brag a little. I've been playing poker off and on since I was 12 years old. I am now 60. I've won 2 Royal Flush jackpots in Laughlin, NV. in the last 8 months. The first ($895) in Oct. of 2007 and the second ($2445) just three weeks ago. I hit both of them on the turn. While I've had several straight flushes over the years these are the only Royals I've ever had. They were both in a $2-4 game with small pots at the end. I 'm not sure what the odds are on the turn. I knew the river odds.

  2. It's about 1 in 650,000.  Now in Deuces Wild it is a bit easier if you count the royal flush with 2's helping you.

  3. The chances are 1/649,740.  THe Odds are calculated the following way.  The odds of getting the:

    1st Card - 20/52

    2nd Card - 4/51

    3rd Card - 3/50

    4th Card - 2/49

    5th Card - 1/48

    For a total of 480/311,875,200 or 1/649,740

For the odds of a specific suit are calculated this way:

    1st Card - 5/52

    2nd Card - 4/51

    3rd Card - 3/50

    4th Card - 2/49

    5th Card - 1/48

    For a total of 120/311,875,200 or 1/2,598,960
