  1. File> Dialogs> Create New Dock> Layers, Channels & Paths

  2. I noticed that when you reopen the "layers, channels, paths and history" windows and tabs the way that's already been described, they don't look the same as the way they do when you first install.  There's probably a way to dock them all again so that they do but I don't know what it is.  I was making a tutorial on GIMP so I needed it to look like the default again.  Here's what I did - Uninstall GIMP, then search your C: drive (all files and folders) for gimp.  Delete any files that say PREFETCH and re-install the program.  It should look the same as it did the first time you installed it.

  3. You Just Simply Closed it ..

You Can Reopen It In The Gimp Window That Opens By Clicking The Little White Arrow At The Top In The Box Under All The Tools

I Can Show You With Screen Shots If You Wish ..

Or If You Want The Second Window Open Go To File And Open A Blank Document

Then You Click Dialogues And Layers ,. .

For The Original Box You Had Open You Add The Other Tabs To The Dialogue Box ..

Again I Can Show You With Screen Shots If You Need It
