My learners license expires next year 20 feb, ive already done my 50 hours because i got it like three years ago when i was 16, so i dont have to do 120 hour bullcrap. But if my license expires does that mean i have to sit for another test and i have to do 120 hours or i just renew my card license thing. I think its pretty stupid if i have to start again considering ive already done 50 hours and 3 years worth lol

  1. have you looked at the rta's website or called them.

    www.rta.nsw.gov.au

  2. Try to do the driving test before your licence expires. If you don't you'll have to do the DKT again and be issued with a new licence and you'll be under the current system.

BUT, you'll have the same licence number and the hours you've filled out in your log book will still count, also the period you've held it for is counted as well.

Basically, you'd have to make up the remainder of the 120 hours - including 20 hrs night-time driving - but won't have to hold it any longer than it takes to meet the 120 hr requirement.

  3. Yes, if you do not get your P's before it expires you will have to sit the other test and you will have to do the full 100-120 hours c**p. I live in QLD and i know someone who didnt claim his P's before july and he had to do the 100 hours of recorded log book junk.

  4. What state are you from? In Victoria the Learner's Permits are valid for 10 years! You wouldn't have to start again they will have in the system that you have had your Learner's Permit for 3 years already.

  5. We have 50 states with 50 different rules.

I think you should check with your own state DMV or just try calling them.

    Good luck...

  6. If you've already done the required amount of hours, what's stopping you from getting your P's?

    Just curious...
