My Light, (2 long bulbs) with a pull chain fell out...how do i get it back in??

Ok, its a long light, its not just one small light bulb. There is 2 long ones, and this morning before i left, i was in a hurry, and i pulled the chain to turn it off and the chain fell off. There is a gold thing where the chain goes in. I unscrewed that, but then there was a similar black one that can't come out. The light isn't a year old yet either. I can't take anything off, it just won't. Is there a way i can get it off? Or, at least put the chain back in? I can also control the light by a light switch, but since i turned it off, i can't get the light back on, so if i could just get help to at least turn the light on....someone, please help me!

By the way, I can't return it, or take it in, short on money.

 i have the same problem, but my light is connected to the ceilng, and its been on for 24+hours.  i also can't disconnect it because it's wired into the basemetn.  anybody have any idea how to proceed.
