I was wondering does anyone know of any Day care facilities for special needs children/Autistic children? I live in california (oakland area). Please if you have any resources let me know. Thank you!

get in touch with your local regional center, they should provide info and get you the services with no cost to you.

IS your little bro officially labeled as autistic? if not then you should get him evaluated by the people operating out of the regional center...this way they can hook you guys up with all kinds of assistance including day care and monetary.

Hi Maureena -

I live in the bay area and I am a SDC Preschool Teacher.  In Oakland, there is a school called Tilden Elementary School.  I am not familiar with it, but found it while searching the web. This school also has a preschool program. Their website is:

If your brother has an actual diagnosis of autism and because he is three years old, he has many services available to him, such as an SDC Preschool.  I would recommend that you get in contact with the Oakland Unified School District and talk with the Special Education Office for their district.  There are many resources available for him once he has been diagnosed.  

I would also recommend getting in contact with the Regional Center of East Bay.  Their website is:

They are a great resource as well and will point you in all the right directions to go.
