i would advise to go to your local hobby store and look at the single cards. if you dont have one then find a certain monster of your liking and base your whole deck around it. i personally like the yubel format

My tip is to look at the forbidden cards on the Yugioh web site and use as many of those as you can. Just be aware some you can only have 1 or 2 of in you deck. My personal tip is to use a lot of cards that destroy other cards such as dark hole or fissure which are found in almost every starter deck. Think about cards your opponent will have and figure out how to defend yourself
