I do have my MOT booked, but its not until 5th August.

I booked it ages ago but the test centre is busy & i've rang to check for cancellation. The police camera definitely caught me earlier when i went for my job interview of all things!!

Will i get a fine or points or what. Northern Ireland by the way guys.

  1. If you can prove that you were driving to an MOT test centre, (IE the garage confirm you booked for that particular day prior to making the journey, and you were driving directly to that garage), you don't get penalised, but if you were using the car for any other purpose, you get a fine and points on your licence. You will also be asked to produce all your documents to the police.

If you do get points on your licence, you will have to let your insurer know or your insurance will be void. When you let them know, they may increase your premium, but that is a chance you take if you choose to drive a car illegally.

  2. no m o t    ??    and you had it booked already...  they still catching up from that strike they had 3 years ago..  ÃƒÂ‚£50..  see  [t in papers every week..   don t worry about it..

  3. BOTH A FINE AND POINTS AND PERHAPS NO MOT INVALIDATES YOUR TAX AND INSURANCE SO YOU MAY GET FURTHER FINES AND POINTS

  4. Sorry but but with your mot booked for 5th August you are/were proposing to drive without an MOT for a month! There is not just one test centre in NI. You will get points and a fine and, to be perfectly blunt, you deserve both! If you check with your insurer you will find that it is a condition of the insurance that your vehicle has a valid mot certificate if the age of the vehicle requires one. You do not, so your insurance is automatically invalid which could cost you a LOT of money if you have an accident.

The only time you can legally drive your vehicle without an MOT (assuming of course it is 3yrs+ old) is to travel from your home to the test centre for the test. No where else and not at any other time.
