was told he wouldnt be able to get any leave (he just got out of ITB/SOI training) until December for Christmas. He was also told that he would barely be home due to training for several months at 29 Palms in Cali. Does anyone know how training in 29 Palms works from Hawaii, and when the earliest they start sending these new guys there? We would like to get married within the next month, but would hate to make flight arrangments if he'll be in Hawaii. The unit he joined just got back from Iraq as well, so I feel like they wouldn't be back training at 29 for a little bit still.

Im not fully understanding your question because your missing some facts..But I will try to help you..

I was stationed at MCB Hawaii also. If he joined a unit that just returned from deployment then he has about 12-14 months before they deploy again. He will deploy 2 times for sure for about 6-7 months at a time. Where he goes varies on many things. Not all deployments are to the middle east. So dont worry about that.

Yes they do train in 29 Palms but I would need to know his MOS to better help you. We would go for about 1 month but never after deployment.

I dont know what you want to know as to how training goes there and as to when they start sending new guys there. Usuallyy the entire unit goes to train, not just the new Marines.

He will know when they are going to train and what not then he can give you the dates and you can plan accordingly. Just be patient.

because he is the new guy they absolutely can tell he he cannot take leave right away.  Actually,they have thee right at ANY time to say who can and cannot go on leave.  while he is at 29 stumps he will NOT have any free time to run down to the courthouse and get married.  

Just because his unit just got back doesn't mean they aren't going to be training for the next time.

If he explains to his chain of command that he's going to get married I'm sure they'll give him a range of dates during which he'll be there and allowed to do it.  The trick, for him, is to open his mouth and ask.
