My Mazda6 has P215 50 R17 tires...for snow tire use, can I use 225 50 r17 tires

My friend has snow tires and rims from his RX-7 which are 225 50 r17 which he would give me if they could be used on my 2008 Mazda6 which comes with 215 50 r17

225's are only slightly wider than 215's, they should fit with no problem.

Answer 2

1.  The wheels won't fit your FWD Mazda6 - wrong offset.

2.  A wider tire is not a good option for winter.  As a rule you want a narrower tire for improved traction in snow.
