My Mercury Sable car is blowing hot heater air instead of A/C, why is that?

My Mercury Sable car's A/C is not blowing A/C air but hot heater air, what could be wrong with it? I need an answer of what could be wrong with the car. Your answer to my question is appreciated. Thank you.

Several possibilities

1.  You do not have the a/c turned on.

2.  You still have the temp turned to hot from the winter

3.  The a/c needs to be recharged

4.  The belt driving the a/c is broken

either a faulty ac control head or possibly a temperature door mode actuator!
