~Sigh~ Ok here is the deal. I was driving my car and noticed i was about to run out of gas. I parked it and shut it off and a few hours later went to go try and start it again. I guess i was out of gas but still prayed it would start so i guess i cranked it one to many times. The engine was rolling over just fine for a while, until eventually it stopped rolling over all together and all i could hear were Clicks coming from under the hood each time i turned the key in the ignition. I have replaced the starter now and still no go, it wont turn over just clicks. I have been looking for the starter solenoid because i was told there was more then one and there would be one mounted on my firewall some where but i could not find it. Now I'm looking to find my starter relay and have no idea what it looks like or where it is. ~Sigh~ Any help would be Greatly appreciated. I am far from a mechanic but am trying to fix it as best i can since i cant afford to take it in again. If you have any ideas on what could be wrong or where my starter solenoid (Not one located on top of starter engine) Or starter relay are located and what they look like so i can find please pleas please let me know. Thank you all for your time.

  1. Check your connections, clean them. However clicking ussaly means your batterys dead, charge it, have it tested, hae the alternator tested.

  2. u have a few things u can try,hit the starter with a hammer a few times, try getting a boast,it could also be the alternator.i have had one of these cars in the passed it was a 1999. my best advise would be just scrap the danm thing

  3. first thing to have done would have been clean the battery cables or have the battery tested... and if you follow the hot battery cable from battery to the fender that is the other one....really battery cable the first thing that goes bad then the battery then the starter... and if the battery is bad or the cables bad all your going to get is a click.. and if you could jump it good bet the cables are dirty.. just follow your hot wire from battery it will go to solenoid or relay before it gets to starter

  4. before you buy any more parts - clean your battery cables and make sure the battery has a full charge, then you can trouble shoot if there are any more problems.  good luck

  5. some of the solenoids are built into the starter. check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight. hit the starter, they stick sometimes.make sure there,s juice going down to the starter, i,am thinking it might be a fuseable link burnt.

  6. ok well lets review your comments on what happened here.   you tried to crank you car till you killed you battery and then just decided it was the starter?  ok do you not know that battery's don't magically recharge themselves. i mean come on if you just wnat to throw money at it then just replace the fuel pump and go ahead and replace your brakes and maybe even tear down your engine just to put it back together. geez man all you need to do is recharge your battery.

  7. I had the same thing happen with my Sable. I always had to play with the fuel shut-off switch. I don't know what year your sable is, but mine was in the trunk.
