My Miss Aurelia unbeaten so far, works ahead of the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs
The 2-year-old Steve Asmussen trained filly, My Miss Aurelia has been unbeaten so far in her debut season, as she has gone on to win 3 races in as many starts and now the Stonestreet Stable owned filly is headed for the Grade 1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
Fillies on 4 November, 2011 at Churchill Downs.
The daughter of Smart Strike, out of My Miss Storm Cat by Sea of Secrets, My Miss Aurelia worked ahead of the biggest race of her career at Churchill Downs on 17 October, 2011.
The filly turned in a work of five furlongs over fast footing in 1 minute and 2 seconds flat, and it turned out to be the fifth fastest work at the distance.
George Bolton’s home bred, My Miss Aurelia covered the distance in fractional times and in the end galloped out six furlongs in 1 minute and 16 seconds.
My Miss Aurelia kicked off her debut season with a win in the maiden special weight stakes in her first attempt at Saratoga on 22 July, 2011.
She left behind Delightful Magic and Stopshoppingmaria over at the five and half furlong dash on dirt, as she completed the distance in 1 minute and 3.59 seconds.
Next up, Steve Asmussen pointed My Miss Aurelia to run in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga on 14 August, 2011, under jockey J Leparoux.
The filly won her second start in a row as she topped the six and a half furlong dash in 1 minute and 17.01 seconds, as she left her fellow juvenile runners behind. Millionreasonswhy and Bellacourt finished second and third, respectively.
My Miss Aurelia completed her hat-trick of wins in her third start, where she also earned the grade 1 status, the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park on 8 October, 2011, under jockey Corey Nakatani.
This time around Steve Asmussen wanted to stretch the filly over at a mile, and she did not disappoint as she bagged the 1 mile long race defeating Stopshoppingmaria yet again with the winning time of 1 minute and 35.22 seconds.
