My Miss Aurelia will lead the field of 14 sophomore fillies in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies
The Grade 1, $1million Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies has reeled in a formidable lineup and a full field was drawn where 14 sophomore fillies will contest for the massive purse over the 1 1/16 mile race which will be run on Churchill Downs on
4 November, 2011.
The Juvenile Fillies field has drawn the likes of W.T. Howard trained Rocket Twentyone, who will be ridden by Eddie Razo, Jr., Ben Cecil’s Self Preservation drew post number 6 and will be ridden by Joel Rosario.
Weemissfrankie sent at the odds of 4 to 1 co-second betting choices with Grace Hall, has drawn post number 11 and 5 respectively. Weemissfrankie will be ridden by Rafael Bejarano for trainer Peter Eurton, and on the inside Northern Passion who will break
from post number 10 with odds of 12 to 1 for trainer Mark Casse will be ridden by Luis Contreras.
Ramon Dominguez will be aboard Grace Hall for trainer Anthony Dutrow, both these fillies are undefeated in three starts.
On top of the pile, the field is led by the undefeated Steve Asmussen trained 2-year-old filly, My Miss Aurelia, as the juvenile filly was pegged as the 5 to 2 morning line favourite.
The daughter of Smart Strike, out of My Miss Storm Cat by Sea of Secrets, My Miss Aurelia is coming off a win in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park on 8 October, 2011.
The filly won over a mile and in the process defeated Stopshoppingmaria and Miss Netta, who finished second and third respectively, as the winner covered the mile distance in 1 minute and 35.22 seconds in quick time.
My Miss Aurelia won the race with Corey Nakatani, pairing up with the filly for the first time, and he will ride the bay filly at Churchill Downs and will break from post number 9.
Prior to the Frizette Stakes, My Miss Aurelia at Saratoga won the six and a half furlong dash in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes, under jockey J Leparoux while the pair defeated Millionreasonswhy and Bellacourt to cover the distance in 1 minute and 17.01 seconds.
