My Miss Aurelia will miss important training time ahead of her sophomore season due to a sore shin
George Bolton and Stonestreet Stables owned 2-year-old filly, My Miss Aurelia, undefeated in 4 career starts with two grade 1 wins under her belt, has been sidelined because of a sore shin as a result she has been given time off and will not return to the
worktab until February.
Steven Asmussen trained juvenile filly is the top contender for the champion 2-year-old filly, because of her perfect debut season with 4 wins in as many starts including victory in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
The Kentucky bred daughter of Smart Strike, out of mare My Miss Storm Cat by Sea of Secrets, My Miss Aurelia due to her minor injury will not be able to resume light training, and instead of being sent to Steven Asmussen at Santa Anita, rather she will take
a period of rest at a Vinery in Ocala, Fla.
“We’re not dealing with a big schedule change. But her shin told us not to stick her on a plane and start working January 1 at Santa Anita. Does that mean we'll miss anything? I don’t know.”

Though her injury doesn’t require surgery, she will be given time off to be completely fit for her much anticipated sophomore season, but this unexpected injury might take away the most important race for 3-year-old fillies from My Miss Aurelia.
The Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks could go on without My Miss Aurelia, reason being she may not make it back in time for the all important race.
“The (Kentucky Oaks) could still be in the picture. We haven’t made that decision yet. I think what Steve, Barbara (Banke), and John (Moynihan) want to do is not have to commit to anything this early. We’d like to make the Oaks, but the targets are all the
big races through the Breeders’ Cup. We hope to have a fresh and ready to go horse when we start up.”

My Miss Aurelia bred in Kentucky landed the six and a half furlong long Grade 2 Adirondack at Saratoga right after breaking her maiden, and then she went on to capture the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park over a mile.
