My O.S. is MS XP Pro.?

Question

Add/Remove programmes no longer works, so cannot uninstall programmes, any ideas?

Maybe if you right click on it and go into properties sometimes theres an uninstall option there

but try the add/remove and just let it go for a few minutes. i know for me it takes a while to bring all the programs up

if you have the xp pro disc , you can try a repair.  You put the disc into the drive and then type into the RUN  sfc this brings up a black screen, follow the directions there which should be for you to type sfc/scannow and press return.  SFC is system file checker and checks all original files are in order hopefully restoring your add/remove files

Insert Windows XP Pro disk into CD-ROM drive.

Restart computer

Select "Boot from CD"

Enter Setup

Select "R" for repair

You're going to need your product key

Reboot the pc and tap the F8 key.  When the menu comes up select the safe mode.  You should be able to utilize the Add/Remove Programmes icon.

If not you need to scan for malware.  Update your anti-virus definitions and do a full scan.  Download Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6(link 1), install it, update it, immunize your pc, then do a full scan.  Selec the Fix all problems button to remove items found.  Use Teatimer to provide future protection for your Windows System files/programs.
