My Olympus Stylus 710 digital camera is like having a stroke! could really use some help!?

Question

I just bought a Olympus Stylus 710 (all weather proof) off of ebay...refurbished. Its zoomed out all the way, when it's off, then when I turn it on to picture mode it tries to focus in and out and turn off. But if I turn it to view the pictures I've already taken it's fine, and if I switch it to take pictures it does it again. I've tried charging the battery, turning it on then off then on etc etc

I DONT WANT TO SEND IT BACK

I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 4 weeks to get a "new" one!

please help!!!!

Send it in for repair because there is no way self service these cameras.
