In my basement television, i have comcast digital cable. For a few weeks now everytime i want to watch something on demand i go to it, i hear that it is working, but then it says that it's sorry and it couldn't connect. It says to try again later, and i do. but it never works. however, upstairs in the living room the on demand is working. what is wrong with the basement on demand? also it says to call, but when i do they only put me on hold.

  1. The only way to fix your issue is to contact them. If they put you on hold, call back to get another rep (I understand it gets frusterating). What they need to do is send a signal over to your box to correct the issue. If that doesn't work, your box is defective and they would need to swap it out for a new one.

  2. I have had the same problem with mine sometimes the digital code gets contaminated when downloading into your converter box. try unplugging it and disconnecting it from the cable. Hook it back up and wait a couple hours. If that doesn't work you might need to have the box itself replaced. Like I did.

  3. Check to see if you are running RG6 coax to the basement. If not, that is probably what is limiting your on demand. Also, check your splitter, you will want to make that it is a lossless splitter that will give the same frequency to all splits.

Also, are you running your cable thru a surge protector, that may be causing the frequency loss, try connecting direct to the cablebox without the protector to see if that helps.

  4. First check all the cables on the cable box and the wall and make sure they are tight and the wires aren't bent or have any visible damage.

Since the upstairs box is working and the basement box worked until recently, odds are there is something wrong with the line running to the basement. On-Demand service runs on the higher frequencies and is more susceptible to any kind of interference from damaged cable, bad or loose fittings or a bad splitter. Seeing as how your upstairs box works, you could take the basement box upstairs and see if it works there. That way you would know if it is the box itself (which I doubt, but is possible), or if it is a problem with the basement line. You'll need to get a tech out to repair or replace the basement line if that is the problem. If it turns out to be the box, though, you can usually drop by the office and swap it out for a new one.
