I bought a Samsung 40" Widescreen 720 HDtv and I set up my X360 and my PS3 to it. I went about messing with the HD settings and tried 1080p, it let me do it on both systems. I haven't noticed any scaling. So does anyone know what is going on? Is it just using 720p settings while I have it set to 1080p, or is it actually scaling. Also, should I revert settings back to 720p, or will there be no difference if I keep it at 1080p/i?

  1. It is more that likely downgrading the pic or displaying in 1080i.

I keep my PS3 (set on 1080p) on the TV in the bedroom which is 1080p, but when I move it to my Samsung in the living room the TV converts the signal to 720p without me altering the system settings.

  2. There will be no difference because the max resolution your tv can display is 720p.
