Question:

My PS3 is.....broken? Say what?

Alright, I went to the Playstation Store and downloaded the patch that allows PS2 hardware (it can be found under "disc-based add-ons"). I happened to have Soul Calibur IV in at the time, and I noticed that the icon for SCIV disappeared. And now my PS3 has decided to stop reading PS2 and PS3 discs on the day that I finally got around to buying a new controller.

And now, friends and neighbors, I ask you.....

What the heck is wrong with my PS3? I've read that it can be fixed by calling Sony, but will it cost me? Is this something I can resolve without contacting Sony?

  1. warranty

  2. If you have your warranty you don't pay anything, give them a call and they'll take care of it.

  3. good for you

  4. they will fix it for free. Unless you've physically damaged the ps3, otherwise they will fix it for free. You might even be able to fix it over the phone. Goodluck man, and BTW I have a 60gb ps3 and some times it acts weird too, but this is different.

  5. Just call them. You didn't cause the problem. It will be fixed or replaced for free if within warranty.

  6. Its probably a problem with the bluray drive.

If you are under warranty it will be fixed for free, if you are out of warranty it will cost $150.
